Century old Bengal straight razor (circa 1900)

This beauty came to us for some serious love. It is an heirloom piece that has been in their family for generations, but hadn’t seen use for a very long time. Rust had started to have its way, and the ivory was yellowing badly. Once we disassembled it, we quickly realized it would need a new spacer made, as the soft metal had worn and warped badly over time. Thankfully The blade was still in reasonable condition. We gave it a new nickel silver spacer and steel pins, it had a very careful deep clean, and we neutralized the rust. We were in close contact with the owner all through the process, and they decided to keep some of the pitting and yellowing after a good clean, to preserve its history accurately. It was a beautiful piece to work on and an honour to be trusted with such a valuable heirloom.
